What was updated?

This Management Evaluator Handbook was distributed to the State Grand Masters during the last Leaders Meeting held in Rio de Janeiro, December, 2011. Verify below the main changes:

• Goals. The Supreme Council replaced theindex “Training” by “DeMolay University Registration”;

• Understanding the goals. Since it changed the indexes the Supreme Council explains what it is expected by the new index.

• Annex 01. We updated the goals according to the number of Active Chapters per State Grand Council and according to the new index too.

Introduction

The Supreme Council of the Order ofDeMolay for the Federative Republic of Brazil is an autonomic organization responsible for managing the business regarding the name “DeMolay” when it is related to a group of young men sponsored by the Freemasonry. Historically the Order of DeMolay always had an administrative high body responsible for centralizing information about members, releasing patents and charters, ruling the work ofappendent organizations, standardizing the procedures, being the last instance in judging and, mainly, managing the group in order to provide the growing and development.

The National Grand Master, as higher representative of the Supreme Council, must manage the Order of DeMolay helped by his Executive Directors (Grand Secretary, Grand Treasurer and Grand Orator) and his Committees always relyingthe by-laws and the Statute and, as the Supreme Council is a administrative body, by the rules of basic administration.

The State Grand Master, as representative of the Supreme Council in his State, and his State Grand Council are fundamental for the growth of the Order of DeMolay. He must follow the Chapters in order to assure that the legal requirements for conferring Degrees, obligatoryceremonies, the sent of fees and other legal terms are accomplished. It is an obligation of the Supreme Council to assure that the State Grand Council fulfills their duties, offering help and following with feedback of the indexes.

Nowadays the Supreme Council dedicates energy, human resources and time in order to evaluate it performance and also promote its self-statistical knowledge so thatstrategic goals may be purposed and a fair evaluating method may be created. We understand that is very important to measure the results, because anything not measured cannot be managed and, as a consequence of it, anything that is not managed cannot grow safely.



Planning - 2012

In order to safely plan, creating reachable objectives it is necessary to answer the following question: where do wewant to reach? The Supreme Council aims to reach the following Objectives:

• Increasing the frame of initiated members;
• Assuring that the initiated members be elevated;
• Updating and motivating the Chapter members through training;
• Having the members registration updated;
• Assuring the annual regularity;
• Assuring that Chapters send communication about Degree presentation;
•Measuring the Grand Council effectiveness in managing such indexes;
• Measuring the Supreme Council effectiveness;

From those big objectives we created a group of seven goals – also called indexes. It is important to understand that the goals created a sense of direction. Without any direction any organization tends to walk aimlessly, without a clear sense of where it intends to reach. Thegoals bring inspiration and reinforce the motivation of those who work for our purposes. Moreover, they help to evaluate our progress, since it is clearly established and safely measurable. Lastly they are essential for you, as State Grand Master, to create the jurisdictional growth plans, motivating your staff to work and grow.
