Abstract. With the uncontrolled process of urbanization in the downtowns, occupations began to appear in inappropriate places, endangering the safety and the quality of life. This work discusses the survey data for evaluation of areas susceptible to mass movement on slopes, mainly focused in study of landslides, falling blocks and erosion natural waterfalls paths. The movements are usually related to local geology, slope, suppression of vegetation, weather events and urban expansion at the base of slopes, factors that accelerate the process of landslides. For development work on the slopes of Study Area (Cross’s Hill, Santa Catarina, South of
Brazil). Were conducted field surveys, analysis of soil and rock, physical maps that allowed a detailed assessment of the current situation that a slope of study area and is generation of maps using GIS. For the formulation of the maps, was used in the laboratory, the model of fragile natural potential with support in UTBBasic Territorial Units, that the methodology was developed by INPE. To transform the information obtained in maps, an equation was developed bringing together the main components of the index of fragility: the geology, soil characteristics, slope, land use and occupation of the soil and climate. As results, we obtained the map fragility-environmental risk for the slope of the hill where the cross is located UNIVALI.
