RESUMO
Ainda que ausente nos três dias de apresentações, são muitos os fios que ligam a modernização do teatro brasileiro à Semana de 22. A própria construção do Teatro Municipal de São Paulo, iniciada em 1903 e concluída em 1911, inseria-se em uma perspectiva mais abrangente de alinhar as manifestações artísticas brasileiras às vanguardas europeias, projeto levado a cabo pela elite paulista que desembocará, décadas mais tarde, nas manifestações do Teatro Brasileiro de Comédia e do Teatro Oficina.
Este artigo visa colocar em evidência as múltiplas manifestações teatrais na cidade no período da Semana e indicar as linhas de desenvolvimento engendradas a partir desse evento singular da história cultural no país.

ABSTRACT
Although not present on the three days of performances, the modernization of the Brazilian theater is linked to the 1922 Modern Art Week in a myriad of ways. The building of the São Paulo Municipal Theater itself, started in 1903 and completed in 1911, is part of a broader perspective of aligning Brazilian cultural manifestations with European vanguards. Such project was undertaken by the São Paulo elite, which decades later would lead to the manifestations by the Teatro Brasileiro de Comédia [Brazilian Comedy Theater] and the Oficina
Theater. This article aims at highlighting the manifold theater manifestations in the city during the Modern Art Week, and at outlining the development paths taken from that unique event in the cultural history of the country.
