Tânia Sarmento-Pantoja1 [e-mail] Lia Maria Lima Marcelino2 [e-mail] Resumo: No romance Mayombe Pepetela expõe as contradições e tensões vividas por um grupo de guerrilheiros do MPLA, durante a guerra de libertação de Angola. Nesse universo poucas são as vozes femininas presentes e é pensando nelas que o presente estudo propõe um olhar sobre as personagens Ondina e Leli, figuras que se expõem a partir da não-aceitação da realidade machista e patriarcal, pois revelam comportamentos à frente de seu tempo ao não se submeterem ao perfil que a sociedade impõe à mulher. Por isso mesmo essas personagens têm fundamental influência na caracterização dos personagens masculinos, os guerrilheiros. Ondina e Leli não se envergonham de demonstrar seus desejos mais íntimos. A sexualidade nelas é intensamente experimentada e o desejo se torna, pelas circunstancias da guerra, inerente à dimensão ética. O direito a gozar do próprio corpo e a gozar livremente do corpo do outro se torna, sobretudo um ato político.

Abstract: In the novel Mayombe Pepetela exposes the contradictions and tensions experienced by a group of
MPLA guerrillas during the liberation war in Angola. In this universe there are few female voices present and thinking about them is that this study proposes a look at the characters and Ondina Leli, figures that are exposed from the non-acceptance of reality sexist and patriarchal behaviors they show ahead of its time by failing to submit to the profile that society imposes on women. Therefore these characters have crucial influence on the characterization of male characters, the guerrillas. Ondina and Leli are not ashamed to show your innermost desires.
