EITHER...OR
É usada para falar sobre uma escolha entre duas possibilidades (e, às vezes, mais de duas):
We can go either by bus or by car. (Podemos ir de ônibus ou de carro.)

She doesn't speak either French or German.
(Ela não fala nem francês nem alemão.)
If you want an ice cream there's either raspberry, lemon or vanilla.
(Se você quer um sorvete, há sorvete de framboesa, limão ou baunilha.)
If either Felipe or João comes to the party I'll be very happy. (Ficarei muito feliz se o Felipe ou o João vier à festa.)
We have time to see either the museum or the cathedral, but not both.

He is either in London or in New York. (Ele está em Londres ou em Nova Iorque.)
Either he could not come or he did not want to. (Ou ele não podia vir ou não queria.)

OBSERVAÇÃO: Quando usarmos either...or, o verbo concordará com o substantivo que o precede:
If either my parents or Jim calls, tell them I'm not here.
(Se meus pais ou o Jim ligar, diga a eles que não estou aqui.)
If either my sister or my parents come, can you let them in?
(Se minha irmã ou meus pais chegarem, você pode deixá-los entrar?)
- Porém, se either...or estiver ligando dois substantivos no singular, o verbo poderá ser conjugado tanto no plural, como no singular. Contudo, a conjugação no plural é considerada bastante informal:
If either my sister or my brother calls, tell them I'm not here. (normal)
If either my sister or my brother call, tell them I'm not here. (informal)

Esta estrutura é usada para ligar duas ideias negativas:
I neither smoke nor drink. (Não fumo, nem bebo.)
I neither knew nor care what had happened to him.
(Eu não sabia, nem me importo com o que tinha acontecido a ele.)
Neither Martin nor Peter passed the exam. (Nem o Martin, nem o Peter passaram na prova.)
Their house is neither big nor small. (A casa deles não é nem grande, nem pequena.)
