The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) was created in 1946 to provide emergency food and healthcare to children in countries that were destroyed by the world war II .

What is UNICEF?
UNICEF is an organisation that helps children in all the developing countries and also their families. In a short sentence, UNICEF is the force that helps build a world where the rights of every child are realized.
However, UNICEF is more than a peace-keeper and forum for conflict resolution, the United Nations and its family of agencies are engaged in a vast array of work that touches every aspect of people's lives around the world. Unicef is big, but in order to help the children, unicef needs help. Unicef is all the people in the world that donate money, food, and necessary stuff everyday. Unicef is you.

What UNICEF does:

Imagine a world in which every girl and boy has an opportunity to receive a quality education. All children would be nurtured from birth and given the skills necessary to take their place in the global community. With Unicef this is possible.
Unicef makes sure children get free ad equal access to education and commits to ensure that all children – regardless of gender, ethnicity, socioeconomic background or circumstances – realize their right to a quality education. In order to do it, this organization supports innovative programmes and initiatives that focus on the world’s most excluded and vulnerable children, including girls, the disabled, ethnic minorities, the rural and urban poor, victims of conflict and natural disasters and children affected by HIV and AIDS.

Besides all this work, this enormous organisation deals with a lot more, such as child survival and development, environmental protection, human rights, health and medical research, poverty and economic development, agricultural development and fisheries, emergency and disaster relief, peaceful uses of atomic energy, labour and workers' rights, and the list goes on.
