RESUMO
O artigo aqui apresentado liga-se à preocupação de que se institua um tratamento escolar mais científico às atividades de linguagem, muito especificamente às atividades ligadas ao domínio da língua materna. Cada vez mais as Instituições de Ensino Superior recebem alunos com alto grau de dificuldade no uso da língua portuguesa em suas múltiplas variedades e diferentes situações. Principalmente os acadêmicos do curso de Direito. É preciso, neste mundo em movimento e em transformação valorizar a linguagem, resgatar a desafiante tarefa de valorizá-la em seus aspectos artísticos, históricos e sociais, e, ao mesmo tempo, cruzá-la com o mundo contemporâneo em que se vive.

THE PORTUGUESE LANGUAGE AND LAW

ABSTRACT
The research presented here is linked to the concern that a more scientific school treatment be established to language activites, very specifically the activities connected to the command of the mother tongue. More and more, institutions of higher education receive students with a high degree of difficulty in the use of the Portuguese language in its multiple varieties and different situations. Specially law students. It is necessary, in this world in movement and in constant change, to value language, to rescue the challenging task of cherishing it in its artistic, historical and social aspects, and, at the same time, have it match the contemporary world in which one lives.
