RESUMO
A genética clínica é reconhecida como a especialidade que se espalha rapidamente entre os outros campos de saúde. O desenvolvimento de novas tecnologias e os avanços da biologia molecular permitiu o maior interesse pela pesquisa básica e a identificação de alterações nos genes BRCA1 e BRCA2, responsáveis pela predisposição ao câncer de mama, guiada pelo aconselhamento genético. Um número significativo de mulheres com câncer de mama têm uma história familiar da doença, mas apenas 5 a 10% de todos os casos são realmente hereditários. Os testes genéticos não podem prever se o paciente desenvolverá o câncer de mama , mas indica se é provável o desenvolvimento dessa doença .
ABSTRACT
Clinical Genetics is recognized as a specialty that spreads quickly among the other health fields. The development of new technologies and advances in molecular biology has the greatest interest in basic research and the identification of changes in the genes BRCA1 and BRCA2, which are responsible for a predisposition to breast cancer, guided by genetic counseling.
