Resenha crítica do texto Stuart Mill: liberdade e representação de Elizabeth Balbachevsky

RESUMO
O comentário de Elizabeth Balbachevsky acerca das formulações políticas de Stuart Mill revela um pensador utilitarista, liberal, individualista e progressista. Mill procura conjugar, em um mesmo plano teórico, o liberalismo político e os ideais democráticos, o que caracteriza uma ruptura com o pensamento conservador no interior das doutrinas liberais. Defensor do sufrágio universal, da liberdade e do direito a representatividade política da minoria, a fim de conter a tirania da maioria que tende a emergir nas sociedades democráticas, Mill foi um pensador preocupado com a situação das classes proletárias no interior da sociedade industrial. Mill se opunha ao privilégio de interesses de classe, sejam as classes dominantes sejam as menos favorecidas. O comentário de Balbachevsky resulta em um texto bastante lúcido acerca das concepções do pensador, com vistas a despir seus leitores do preconceito que costuma acompanhar o entendimento dos pensadores liberais clássicos.

ABSTRACT
The comment of Elizabeth Balbachevsky about the Stuart Mill´s political formulations Stuart Mill show us an utilitarian, liberal, individualist and progressive thinker. Mill tries to conjugate, in the same theoretical plan the political liberalism and the democratic ideals, which characterizes a break with the conservative thought in the interior of the liberal doctrines.Defender of the universal suffrage, of the freedom and of the political representativeness of the minority, in order to contain the tyranny of the majority that has a tendency to surface in the democratic societies, Mill was a thinker worried about the situation of the proletarian classes in the interior of industrial society. Mill was objecting to the privilege of class interests - be the dominant classes, or be the least favored.
