Martin Luther King Day is a United states federal holiday and mark his birthday. It happens on the third Monday of January, each year. This king was the chief spokesman for nonviolent activism in the civil rights movement that protested racial discrimination in federal and state law and was successfully. After his assassination, in 1968, started the campaign for a federal holiday in his honor, but only in 2000 it was officially observed for the first time in all 50 states
Martin Luther King, Jr. Born in Atlanta, January 15, 1929 and died in Memphis, April 4, 1968 was a Protestant pastor and political activist. He became one of the most important leaders of the civil rights movement of blacks in the United States and worldwide, with a campaign of non-violence and love. He was the youngest person to receive the Nobel Peace Prize in 1964, shortly before his assassination. His speech most remembered and famous is "I Have a Dream."
I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.
