RESUMO: A obra estudada traz alguns dos principais conceitos existencialistas de Sartre, tal como a essência preceder a existência para todo homem, uma vez que esse filósofo não usa Deus como uma referencia. Ele refere-se por muitas vezes o homem como a própria angústia, já que este, inconscientemente, não representa apenas a si mesmo durante suas ações, mas sim a toda humanidade de sua época. As perguntas que sempre nos vêm a cabeça e que não conseguimos achar as respostas, como “o que estamos fazendo aqui?”, “será que estamos fazendo a coisa certa?” nos inquietam e perturbam, e conseqüentemente, nos angustiam. O único meio que encontramos para escapar dessa frustração é uma espécie de mentira, que nos faz renunciar a nossa própria liberdade, atribuindo estas escolhas a fatores externos, como ao destino, a Deus ou a outro fator sobre humano.
Embora Sartre não considere Deus em suas idéias, ele realmente acha necessário ser respeitado a presença de certos valores, como os religiosos, para uma melhor prosperidade na vida do homem.

ABSTRACT: The studied work brings some of the principal existentialist concepts of Sartre, such as the essence that precedes the existence to every man, once this philosopher doesn’t use God as a reference. He refers many times man as his own anguish, as he unconsciously does not represent only him self during his actions, but all humanity of his time. The questions that always come to us and that we can’t find answers as “what are we doing here?”, “are we doing the right thing?” disturbs us and consequently anguishes us. The only way that we find to escape this frustration is a kind of lie, that makes us renounce our own freedom giving these choices to the extern factors, as fate, God or any other non human factor.
