RESUMO

O artigo se propõe a fazer uma breve reflexão sobre a Historiografia brasileira, ao se constituir numa tentativa de mostrar de que forma a Nova História Cultural foi encontrando, ao longo do século XX, as suas condições de existir e de que forma podemos associar a obra de Gilberto Freyre e Sérgio Buarque de Hollanda à emergência dessa história no Brasil, insinuando o porquê da retomada de suas reflexões teóricas pelos historiadores brasileiros, nos últimos anos, toda vez que estes sentem a necessidade de uma maior compreensão sobre a formação do povo brasileiro e sobre métodos de análise voltados para o cotidiano e suas traduções simbólicas da realidade.

ABSTRACT

The article aims to give a brief reflection on the Historiography of Brazil, to constitute an attempt to show how the new cultural history was found throughout the twentieth century, their conditions of existence and how we can associate the work Gilberto Freyre and Sérgio Buarque de Hollanda the emergence of this history in Brazil, suggesting the reason for the resumption of his theoretical reflections by Brazilian historians in recent years, whenever they feel the need for greater understanding on the formation of the Brazilian people and on methods of analysis focused on the daily lives and their translations of symbolic reality.

INTRODUÇÃO

Falar da evolução da historiografia no século XX, especialmente nos últimos 60 anos, exige necessariamente analisar o fim da hegemonia da
