ABSTRACT
This study, whose theme is: The importance of family elder: A reality of the SAME. Aims to investigate the degree of importance that family plays in the life of the elderly as well as knowing the designs and structure of SAME, emphasizing the family as the main caregiver idoso.O interest in developing this study arose from the experiences experienced during the training conducted at SAME. The SAME is an institution of charity and philanthropic nature, and not for economic gain, characterized by care, long stay for people idosas.A methodology used was a literature review, based on research published in documents such as magazines, books and artigos.De descriptive and qualitative, fulfilling all the requirements of ivestigação. Thus we see that the elderly plays a fundamental role in society and that family is the greatest support in the pursuit of quality of life. And the social worker has a key role on the search for a better reception in homes or institutions in support of the Elderly.
