RESUMO

A

maioria das plantas arbóreas sofre mudanças morfológicas, fisiológicas e bioquímicas durante a transição da fase juvenil para a adulta, principalmente, com relação ao potencial de clonagem, vigor de crescimento e resistência a doenças. A carência de estudos científicos sobre o tema em nível de plantas lenhosas, principalmente em termos de espécies florestais tropicais, tem dificultado os avanços da propagação vegetativa na silvicultura clonal intensiva. No presente trabalho, os principais conceitos sobre a aplicabilidade da juvenilidade, maturação e do rejuvenescimento de plantas, com enfoque especial em espécies florestais são descritos e discutidos.

ABSTRACT
MATURATION GRADIENT AND REJUVENATION APPLIED
TO FORESTRY SPECIES
Most of the woody plants suffer morphologic, physiologic and biochemistries changes during the transition of the juvenile to the adult phase, mainly, with relationship to the vegetative propagation potential, growth vigor and resistance to diseases. The deficiency of scientific studies on the theme at the level of woody species, mainly in terms of tropical forest species, has been hindering the progresses in the vegetative propagation in the intensive clonal forestry. In function of this, the present work aimed to revise the principal concepts and discuss the applicability of the juvenility, maturation and rejuvenation of plants, with special focus in forest species.
