Resumen
O tratamento aos recém-nascidos com fissura labiopalatina busca restabelecer importantes funções, como a mastigação, fonação, sucção e deglutição e reabilitação estética e psicológica. O sucesso da atuação precoce do ortodontista no tratamento desses pacientes é um fato e é realizado mediante o tratamento ortopédico maxilar neonatal pré-cirúrgico. Esta terapia visa, principalmente, a reducir o tamanho da fissura e a corrigir o mau posicionamento dos segmentos maxilares, facilitando, assim, a cirurgia de lábio e palato e preparando o paciente para o tratamento ortopédico/ortodôntico maxilar preventivo e corretivo. O objetivo deste trabalho consiste em realizar uma revisão bibliográfica sobre a ortopedia maxilar précirúrgica em recém-nascidos com fissura labiopalatina.

Abstract
An important goal in the treatment of newborn with cleft lip and palate is a children that is functionally habilited (e.g. acceptable speech, appearance, mastication, and educational attainment) and psychologically adjusted. The successful early involvement of the orthodontist in the treatment of these patients is becoming a fact of life by Orthopedic pressurgical for the newborn cleft and lip palate. The principle objective of this therapy is to reduce the size of the cleft and correct segmental displacement to facilitate lip and palate surgery. The aim of the present study is accomplished a bibliographical revision about the important effects of early maxillaryorthopedic on newborns with cleft lip and palate.
