1) Embora que o pioneirismo do vôo do mais pesado que o ar é ate hoje marcado por incertezas,os irmãos Wright afirmaram que o primeiro vôo foram feitos por eles em 1903 mas ate hoje não há provas muito convincentes tanto que o avião deles precisava de ventos fortes e uma catapulta parecendo ser um planador.
Ja Santos Dumont em 1906 voou cerca de 60 metros impulsionado por um motor a gasolina e menos de um mes depois diante de muitas pessoas voou percorrendo 220 metros a cerca de 6 metros com o Oiseau de Proie III.
Esses dois vôos foram os primeiros a serem homologados pelo Aeroclube da França de um aparelho mais pesado que o ar.Assim mostrando que o primeiro pioneiro do vôo mais pesado do que o ar foi Santos Dumont .
