Algumas questões sobre o processo de concepção da arquitetura e da estrutura

Resumo l O artigo é resultado, principalmente, das constantes reflexões feitas pelo autor ao longo de seus
34 anos de experiência como engenheiro de estruturas, em contato constante com arquitetos na elaboração de projetos, e, também, como professor em escolas de Arquitetura. O artigo tem como objetivo contribuir para a discussão das questões que envolvem as interfaces entre projeto de arquitetura e estrutura. É uma visão de como se dá a gênese do projeto de uma edificação; avalia o peso do pensar generalista da arquitetura e das contingências técnicas da engenharia nesse processo. Discute, entre outras questões, um conceito mais abrangente de estrutura, qual a melhor solução estrutural, a quem pertence a concepção estrutural, as relações entre engenheiros e arquitetos, e o papel do cálculo estrutural.

Title l A Few Questions Concerning the Conception Process of Architecture and Structure
Abstract l This article was mainly based on the constant reflections by the author during his 34-year experience as a structural engineer, in close contact with architects in the elaboration of projects, and also as a professor at Architecture Colleges. This article aims at discussing question concerning the phases between an architecture project and the structure. It is an overview of how an edification project is born; it evaluates the weight of the generalist way of thinking in architecture, as well as the technical interferences of engineering in the process. It also discusses – among other points – a farther embracing concept of structure, the best structural solution, to whom structural conception belongs, the relationships between engineers and architects, and the role of structural calculus.
