- Usa-se o gerúndio: 1. Como substantivo: Singing is what he does best.

2. Após preposições: (about, against, at, in, of, for, on, after, before, etc.), o verbo vem sempre na forma - ing;

She is interested in buying the a car. - Adjetivo + preposição + ...ing: I'm against voting for Richard. She is good/bad in persuading people. - Substantivo + preposição + ...ing: He has difficulty in talking to the public. Com a função de objeto direto e objeto indireto (com preposição) He likes swimming. Swimming is her favorite sport.

5. Após os verbos go e come: They went skiing last winter. They went skiing last winter. 6. Após essas expressões: can’t stand, can’t help, be worth, feel like, it is good, it is no use, there is no point, what about / how about, look forward to, be used to, object to. a) Can’t stand :I can’t stand boring people.
b) Object to: They objected to sitting in the smoking section
