ABSTRACT The goal of this study was to accomplish an ergonomic evaluation of the computer operators’ workstation in a state company of fiscal audit, in order to verify if they were in conformity with good ergonomic principles and with the Brazilian norm NR-17. In order to reach this objective there were analyzed the organizational aspects of the company that could interfere in the worker's health; it was identified the complaints of pains of physical and psychosomatic origin; the environment of the workstations was evaluated; it was proceeded the anthropometrical and furniture measures, verifying the inadequacy existence of the workstations to the individual characteristics. The found results demonstrate a high index of people suffering of pain processes (93,2%) due, probably, to the inadequacies of your workstations and of the work organization adopted, that imposes highly repetitive, stressful bureaucratic tasks and with absence of pauses. Those data allow to observe the noncompliance of the criteria prescribed in Brazilian norm NR-17, besides considering the urgency of a redesign of the work, considering the physical aspects (illumination, furniture and accessories), as well as the organizational
