RESUMO
Este artigo apresenta uma análise da organização educacional da Casa de Educação Popular no município de Altamira, localizada na região Sudoeste do Estado do Pará. A pesquisa realizada foi fruto da Disciplina Fundamentos da Educação, ministrada no curso de geografia na Universidade Federal do Pará/ Campus de Altamira. O objetivo central foi apresentar e analisar a organização e práticas educativas que envolvem e fundamentam a educação na Casa de Educação Popular no município supracitado. A pesquisa, de cunho qualitativo, caracteriza-se como um estudo de caso, cujo resultado revelou que a Casa de Educação Popular no município de Altamira tem como alicerce a Pedagogia Freiriana, cujo principal objetivo é levar o educando à emancipação e libertação, princípio básico da Educação popular, além de que mostrou que a organização educacional via coletividade é motor impulsionador para construção de uma sociedade mais justa e igualitária.
