During the French Revolution, there was the period of the counterrevolution, led by King Louis XVI. After this period of great disorder, a new National Constituent Assembly had to be formed to prepare a new constitution. Then comes the National Convention (or simply Convention), which had the Jacobins (the party represented by the petty and middle bourgeoisie, led by Robespierre) as most of its members. For purposes of legislation and administration created the Convention - among others - the Committee of Public Safety and Public Safety Committee.
The National Convention lasted from September 20, 1792 until October 26, 1795. She was succeeded by the Directory, which began on November 2, 1796.
Then we can characterize well the convention of the French Revolution.
