RESUMO
Dorothy Sayers, autora britânica de contos de detetive e especialista em medievalismo, brinda-nos com a transcrição de uma palestra sobre a educação medieval, por ela proferida em 1947, na Universidade de Oxford. Após uma crítica à escassez de bons escritores e bons debatedores, que saibam conduzir um debate, livre de falácias lógicas, erros gramaticais e de lógica, ela aborda o currículo das chamadas “artes liberais”, originária da Grécia Antiga destacando o
“Trivium”, que antecedia o “Quadrivium” das disciplinas específicas. Tais disciplinas são como “ferramentas” universais do estudo, que facilitam a aprendizagem, tornando-a mais prazerosa. Embora elas tenham se perdido ao longo da história, elas têm tudo para serem resgatadas e adaptadas ao contexto atual.

ABSTRACT
Dorothy Sayers, a British authoress of detective stories and specialist Middle
Ages, provides us with the transcription of a lecture on medieval education, given by in 1947 at Oxford University. After pointing out the shortage of good writers and good panelists, who are not able to conduct a debate, free of fallacies, grammatical and logic errors, she introduces the curriculum of the “liberal arts”, detaching the “Trivium”, which preceded the “Quadrivium” of the specific disciplines. Such disciplines are universal “tools” of the study, which facilitate the learning and to make it more enjoyable. Although they were lost throughout history, they have great chances to be redeemed and adapt them to the current context.
