Objective: To assess the relationship between accidents and injuries most common in children, highlighting the nursing care provided. Method: Qualitative, literature review, with the source the collection of the Virtual Health Library (VHL). We selected 16 articles, indexed in the databases LILACS, BDENF and SciELO. Categories after review: 1 - Identification and Epidemiology of Injuries and 2 - Nursing care and prevention of accidents. Results: The literature indicates the scope and magnitude of accidents and injuries in children, becoming a serious public health problem. The nurse educator is able to provide educational programs that involve parents and children about the prevention of accidents. It was emphasized to nursing care of the child trauma victim, related to assessment of knowledge and subjectivity of the nurse care for this population. Conclusion: It is suggested for further studies in order to contribute to the systematization of nursing care. Descriptors: Accidents, Child, Pediatric nursing, Trauma, Nursing care.
