Abstract. Histomorphometric and stereological analysis of testis in prepubertal rats submitted to immobilization-induced stress. The fundamental purpose of this work was to investigate, through morphometrical and stereological analysis, the testis structure and the spermatogenesis process of sexually immature male rats, submitted to stress from the 15o to the 45o day of life. The animals (n=18) were randomly distributed in 2 groups: 1) control group, with animals without immobilization-induced stress; 2) experimental group, with animals submitted to immobilization-induced stress, for 45 minutes/day, inside a zinc tube.
Following treatment, the testis were removed, weighed and submitted to the usual histological routine for the analysis in light microscopy. Histological and histomorphometrical analysis were performed. The results demonstrated alterations in the morphometric and stereological analysis of the animals from the experimental group, with the reduction of body and testis weight, total testicular and parenchymal volume, volume occupied by the Leydig cells and reduction in the average of the diameters of the seminiferous tubules.
