CFA Multimedia Studio Instruction Manual

INTRODUCTION This Instruction Manual will explain how to capture footage from a DV tape in the CFA Multimedia Studio Cluster. This is done with the use of DV Decks, which are located on all machines in CFA 323, two machines in 318, and the 321 Sound Room machine. If there are any issues or questions during this process, please consult the CCon on duty.

DV DECK SETUP Before capturing footage, the DV Deck must be set up to the correct format as the tape. The CFA Multimedia Studio supports two formats, Standard Definition NTSC and High Definition 1080i60. While the DV Decks can be set manually to capture in either format, it can also be set to automatically detect the correct setting (useful if you are unsure of the actual format). 1. Turn on the DV Deck by pressing the power button on the left. Turn on the Monitor. 2. Press the Menu button on the DV Deck. You will see a list of options.

3. Navigate using the Arrow buttons to the setting labeled HDV/DV SEL.

The setting on the right indicates the current format the Deck is set to:

• HDV: Used for capturing High Definition footage • DV: Used for capturing Standard Definition footage • AUTO: Automatically detects the footage and sets the correct format. 4. Press the EXEC button and select AUTO by navigating to it and pressing EXEC again. 5. Press Menu to exit out of the menu.
