Resumo

Este artigo tem como objetivo analisar Ofélia, personagem da peça Hamlet, contrastando o natural e o social e traçando o papel da mulher na sociedade desde os primórdios até o século XVII, momento em que a peça de Shakespeare foi representada. Destaca-se também o papel da mulher na literatura, em especial a personagem da obra citada, fazendo-se uma análise de seu perfil em relação à sua submissão e ingenuidade em contraste com uma mulher forte e determinada, ou seja, a sua luta entre a força social e a natural. Tem-se como referencial teórico Hutcheon, Eble, Avelar, Chopin, Bobbio e Gardiner, que abordam a evolução da mulher na história, assim como Freud e Camati, que tratam da problemática e diferenças do gênero. Abstract

This article aims to analyze Ophelia, Hamlet's character, contrasting the natural and social, charting the role of women in society from the beginning until the seventeenth century, when Shakespeare's play, was represented. We also highlight the role of women in literature, in particular the character of the work cited, making an analysis of their profile with respect to its submission and naiveté in contrast to a strong and determined woman, or her struggle between the natural and social force.
