RESUMO: Este artigo tem o intuito de refletir de forma crítica sobre a função do secretário escolar na escola, mediante as modificações pedagógicas, culturais e identitárias da contemporaneidade. Discute também, acerca da importância dos arquivos administrativos da escola como fonte documental para revelar memórias e histórias de vida da comunidade escolar e de seu entorno. Observar o interior da escola é uma tarefa complexa, mas fundamental para elaboração de um diagnóstico qualitativo e quantitativo para uma avaliação sistemática das características, expectativas, possibilidades e limitações existentes na instituição, para novos desafios e percursos.

ABSTRACT: This article is intended to reflect critically about the role of the school
Secretary at school, through the educational, cultural and identity modification of contemporaneity. Also discusses about the importance of school administrative files as documentary source to reveal memories and stories of the life of the school community and its surroundings. Observe the inside of the school is a complex task, but vital for developing qualitative and quantitative diagnosis for a systematic assessment of the characteristics, expectations, possibilities and limitations existing in the institution to new challenges and pathways. Atualmente, vivemos em um
