FilZip is a file compression tool fully compatible to PKZIP version 2.04g.
It's created using Windows XP, but it's also running with Windows 95/98/ME/NT/2000/XP.

And, of course, it's FREEWARE. It doesn't cost you anything!
You can use Filzip for free in private, educational, non-profit and commercial environments :)

But as I'm a poor student, feel free to send some money to me if you like it :)
