RESUMO
Busca aprimorar de forma contextualizada o termo educação ambiental à realidade da sociedade helenense e comunidades ribeirinhas que retiram das águas do rio Turiaçu e seus afluentes sua alimentação e sustento econômico. Para tanto, aborda de forma sintética e impactante a relação do homem com a natureza desde a era neolítica à contemporaneidade. Enfatiza a origem, o paisagismo local, fauna, flora e variedades de peixes encontrados ao longo do curso do rio Turiaçu, bem como, discute os principais problemas ambientais pertinentes aos recursos hídricos enfrentados na atualidade pelos habitantes do município de Santa Helena, fruto do uso irracional de mananciais e reservas fluviais locais. Toma por base a pesquisa bibliográfica e informal e se dispõe a refletir com criticidade a problemática ambiental local, suas causas, impactos e possíveis resoluções.

ABSTRAC
Search to perfect and it forms structure the term environmental education to the reality of the society helenense and riverine communities that remove of the waters of the river Turiaçu and your your tributaries feeding and economical support. For so much, it approaches of synthetic form and impact the man's relationship with the nature since the neolithic era to the contemporary. It emphasizes the origin, the local landscape, fauna, flora and varieties of fish found along the course of the river Turiaçu, as well as, it discusses the principal pertinent environmental problems to the resources hídricos faced at the present time by the inhabitants of the municipal district of Santa Helena, fruit of the irrational use of springs and local fluvial reservations. It takes for base the bibliographical and informal research and it is disposed to contemplate
