Normas em tradução: algumas considerações sobre os fatores extralinguísticos incidentes sobre a tradução jornalística

Resumo: Por décadas a prática tradutória esteve associada à simples transposição de material textual de uma língua a outra. Variáveis de ordem sociocultural como representações semânticas, normas sociais, visões de mundo e variações linguísticas eram desconsideradas em decorrência da perspectiva estruturalista, que por anos concebeu o sentido como imanente ao texto. Tendo como referencial teórico as contribuições de Gideon Toury no que diz respeito às normas tradutórias, de André Lefevere, com o reconhecimento do chamado “mecenato”, e ainda considerando o código de ética segundo o qual a matéria jornalística é produzida, o objetivo deste ensaio é discutir as normas e coerções que incidem sobre o comportamento do tradutor de reportagens jornalísticas textos culturalmente marcados.

Norms in translation: some considerations about extralingual factors in journalistic translation
Abstract: For many decades, translation practice had been associated with simple transposition of textual material from source to target language. Socio-cultural variables such as semantic representations, social norms, world views and linguistic variations were disregarded due to the structuralist view that for years conceived meaning as immanent to the text. The theoretical framework for this analysis is the contributions of Gideon
Toury with regard to translation norms, the work of André Lefevere with the discussion about the role of patronage in translation practice, and also the code of ethics concerning journalistic texts. Thus, the aim of this paper is to examine the norms and constraints which affect the behavior of newspaper reports translator.
