India is a country in South Asia. It is the seventh largest country by geographical area, the second most population country and the most population democracy inthe world. It’s a republic consisting of 28 states and seven union territories with a parliamentary system of democracy. Indian culture is marked by a high degree ofsyncretism and pluralism. The Indians were able to maintain their traditions, previously absorbing new customs, traditions and ideas from invaders and immigrants,to extend its cultural influence to other parts of Asia. The traditional values of Indian families are very respected and patriarchal model has been the most commonfor centuries. Most Indians have their marriages arranged by their parents and other family members, with the consent of the bride and groom. Child marriage isstill a common practice, since half of Indian women get married before eighteen. The cuisine of India is characterized by a wide variety of regional styles andsophisticated use of herbs and species. Staple foods are made with rice and wheat. Species such as black pepper which are now consumed worldwide are originally native tothe Indian subcontinent. The chili, which was introduced by the Portuguese, is also widely used in Indian cuisine. The traditional clothing varies depending on thecolors and styles according to region and depends on various factors is the more traditional sari and dhoti. The music covers a wide tradition of regional styles. Inlarge part, the two main genres of Indian music: Carnatic music, found mostly in southern India, and classical music indostani, developed in the northern region.
