Name: James Douglas Morrison

Also known as: Mr. Mojo Risin' (anagram for Jim Morrison) and Lizard King
Died: July 3rd, 1971 (Paris)

Why is he famous for?
He was the lead singer and song writer of the Doors and he wrote two poetry books.

How it all happens?

His parents were very conservative and restricted but he was a free spirit and an artist so he decided to follow is dream and in 1965 he graduated in Theater Arts at the UCLA
Since he was young, he always wrote his own poetry, and by the time he graduated he already was a film writer and an actor. In the same year he read his poem “Moonlight Drive” to his friend Ray Manzarek, and they both decided to create a rock group where he would sing his poetic lyrics.
The other two members joining the band were Robby Krieger and John Densmore, that Ray knew from his meditation class.

So the band was completed:
Jim Morrison as the lead singer and song writer;
Ray Manzarek on the keyboard;
Bob Krieger on the Guitar;
John Densmore on the drums.
And they decided to name the group The Doors.

They took the name from a line in William Blake's poem The Marriage of Heaven and Hell that said: "If the doors of perception were cleansed everything would appear to man as it is, infinite”

With the group formed they started composing songs together and soon they were playing in clubs and creating albums.
The albums were: * 1967 – The Doors (Break on Trough ; Light My Fire) * 1967 – Strange Days (My eyes have seen you ;People are strange) * 1968 – Waiting for the Sun(Hello, I Love You) * 1969 – The Soft Parade (“Touch Me”) * 1970 – Morrison Hotel ("Roadhouse Blues" ) * 1971 – L.A. Woman ("Love Her Madly" and "Riders on the Storm")
As they produced the Albums they were increasing their success, thanks to the uncommon style of playing the songs without the bass guitar because Ray played the bass parts on the keyboard, also because Jim was well known
