ABSTRACT: The objective of this paper is to present a study in companies that made changes in its organizational structure, verifying the emphasis given to the creation of work teams. The present structural changes in the organizations are of complex nature and its understanding in depth and extension requests great efforts and detailed analysis. Some authors argue that teams and autonomy at the work place constitute an expressive form of adaptation to the new organizational scenery. The teams also constitute the main piece of restructuring of the companies. The research is of exploratory and descriptive character, made in five companies of different activity branches that accomplished changes in their organizational structures. The results allow a better understanding of the trajectory and nature of the structural changes in the organizations. The obtained information reveals a growing number of companies that use the work teams for increasing flexibility of the production processes.
The work represents a substantial contribution for the improvement of the understanding of the changes and of the organizational scenery.

RESUMO: O objetivo deste artigo é apresentar um estudo realizado em empresas que efetuaram mudanças em sua estrutura organizacional, verificando a ênfase dada à criação das equipes de trabalho.
