Leadership in schoolorganisations: management by values Abstract
Leadership is one of the most common themes in the study of organisations in general, although this prevalence has not reached the sameimportance in educational organisations, particularly in some geographical contexts. Even though we assume in this article that schools have got some specificities in relation to otherorganizations, we also recognize that the studies in the education field cannot remain immune to the contributions of other areas. Due to this reason we refer here to the model ofManagement by Values as a proposal that by breaking away from the more technical-instrumental branches of traditional theories of management, could contribute to a shared reflection with theleadership of educational organisations, specially taking into account the conceptualisation of leadership as a dialogue on values.
