Abstract. This paper approaches the importance of Remote Sensing as discipline in Civil Engineering courses in
Brazil, emphasizing historical aspect of your use in highway engineering projects. For so much were considered the first uses of photography for highways implantation to the establishment of photogrammetry as important tool in the highway projects. It is still discussed the use of remote sensor arise in the last decades and that constituted in new alternatives or complements to use of vertical aerial photographysin highway projects. As display the review, knowledge of remote sensing and of your potentialities became fundamental for the engineers, however, those professionals they are not prepared to work with such technology. This way, is considered that a solution would be the insert of Remote Sensing as discipline in Civil Engineering courses, preparing the futures professionals to assist the needs of the job market.
