RESUMO
A arborização urbana gera benefícios ambientais e sociais e contribui para uma melhoria da qualidade de vida da população dos centros urbanos. Por falta de um planejamento, o plantio de árvores em vias públicas tem gerado problemas a moradores, tais como o confronto com equipamentos urbanos, como rede elétrica, de esgoto, de água, dentre outros. Esse trabalho tem por objetivo levantar a opinião da população uberlandense sobre a arborização da cidade. Para isso aplicou-se um questionário a moradores de diferentes bairros de Uberlândia e realizou-se uma entrevista com os técnicos do Horto
Municipal da cidade, responsáveis pela vistoria dos pedidos de corte de árvores do município. Diante da situação levantada, observa-se que a população tem a percepção da importância da arborização em
Uberlândia e que os técnicos tentam fazer algo para se cumprir a lei de corte de árvore, e assim proporcionar uma melhor qualidade de vida para os moradores da cidade.

ABSTRACT
The urban arborization generates environmental and social benefits and contributes to better the quality of life of the population from the urban centers. Due to the lack of a planning, tree planting in the streets has caused problems to the inhabitants, such as the confrontation with urban equipments like electrical wiring, drain and water systems among others. This study aims to show the opinion of the population of Uberlândia about the city arborization. For that purpose, inhabitants from different areas of Uberlândia were surveyed and the municipal technicians, responsible for the analysis of the orders to cut trees in the city, were interviewed.
