Universidade Metodista de Piracicaba [e-mail] RESUMO – Este trabalho apresenta uma revisão bibliográfica de artigos publicados na internet a respeito de alimentos transgênicos, devido à importância do assunto e ao caráter polêmico que o mesmo gera, pois trata-se mais uma questão pessoal de cada pesquisador frente ao tema. A intenção aqui não é tomar partido quanto à pergunta apresentada no título, mas apresentar a maneira como são desenvolvidos os alimentos transgênicos, os principais produtos existentes no mercado, as vantagens e desvantagens de sua utilização e a posição da legislação brasileira no desenvolvimento desses produtos. Palavras-chave: ALIMENTOS TRANSGÊNICOS – TRANSGÊNICOS – BIOTECNOLOGIA – ENGENHARIA GENÉTICA.
ABSTRACT - This paper presents a bibliographical revision of papers published in the internet about transgenic foods. Due to the importance of the subject and to the controversial character that this subject generates, therefore is a personal point of each researcher have about the theme. The intention here is not to take a party with relationship to the question presented in the title, but to present the way as are developed the transgenic foods, the mean products existent in the market, the advantages and disadvantages of the uses and the position of the Brazilian legislation in the development of the transgenics products.
